Introduction

The Gloucester Rugby Community Team aim to enthuse and inspire young people into playing rugby.

Working with key stakeholders including schools, colleges, clubs and youth groups, the Community Team aim to develop new and exciting initiatives to promote the game of rugby and engage more young people in a physically active lifestyle.

The Team

Gary Little – Community Programme Manager

Gary joined Gloucester Rugby in December 2005. He was previously Sports Development Manager for the Gloucestershire Sports Partnership, where he worked with Sport England, Local Authorities, Education Authorities and Governing Bodies of Sport.
In recent years Gary has worked closely with the RFU in creating and developing a comprehensive Rugby Development programme in Gloucestershire. Bringing this experience to Kingsholm he will aim to strengthen links with the community and foster new partnerships with schools, clubs and the voluntary sector.

Paul Rudland – Community Development Officer

Paul joined Gloucester’s Community team in June 2005. He graduated from UWIC in 2002 with a degree in Sports and Leisure Management and gained invaluable experience whilst studying in the USA on exchange at Illinois State University. Whilst there Paul began coaching rugby to a local side and played regularly in the Mid-Western League. Following graduation he started working at Kenilworth School and Sports College where he was able to gain further coaching experience whilst in the role of Sport and PE Technician.

In October 2003 Paul left Kenilworth for a year traveling, mainly spurred on by the Rugby World Cup in Australia. Whilst abroad he managed to help run touch leagues in Australia and seven’s tournaments in Fiji. Having returned to England Paul seized the opportunity to work at Gloucester Rugby and pass on his experiences via the Community programme.

Andy Brown - Community Rugby Coach

Andy joined Gloucester's Community team in June 2006. Having worked in rugby development for the last 10 years he will pass on his knowledge and experience to others. He is a local boy who also served in The Army in the Gloucestershire Regiment for 10 years. He has been involved in local rugby for a long period of time and has worked for the RFU is a variety of roles encompassing rugby development and coaching throughout.

Andy has played at a variety of levels since the age of 17 including Army U18's, U21's and the Combined Services. He has helped to coach and nurture young talent throughout the county for many local rugby clubs and has also had involvement with the County and District set-up. His role will be to provide a link between the Community Department and The Academy and will prove to be a valuable addition to the team at Gloucester Rugby.
