Ashton Gate travel information

GLOUCESTER’S final regular Guinness Premiership clash against Bristol will be played at Ashton Gate the home of Bristol City Football Club on Saturday, April 28 (3.05pm) and the following information has been produced for the benefit of all supporters travelling to Ashton Gate.
Travelling by Road:

Leave the M5 motorway at junction 18, travel along the Portway (A4) following the signs for Bristol Airport/Taunton (A38). Over the swing bridge (Brunel Way), branching left into Winterstoke Road, at traffic signals (signposted Ashton Gate, Bedminster) continue forward onto Ashton road.

Car Parking at Ashton Gate: Gloucester Rugby have booked a limited number of spaces within the Long Ashton Park and Ride car park.  This is situated off the Long Ashton bypass and can be accessed via Ashton Road.  A detailed plan can be viewed on http://www.destinationbroadmead.com/pdfs/ptsd-Long-Ashton-route-map.pdf

A £5.00 per vehicle charge will apply.

Travelling by Rail: Season ticket holders can reserve their travel with First Great Western for the Ashton Gate game by contacting the club’s ticket office direct before Saturday, April 14 to receive their special travel voucher.

Vouchers can then be exchanged for a valid train ticket at either Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa stations only, between Saturday 7 and Saturday, April 28. A valid train ticket will need to be obtained prior to travel for inspection on the train and at stations on 28 April 2007.  Vouchers will not be accepted in lieu of a valid train ticket.  The deadline for STH to obtain a train voucher from the Gloucester Rugby ticket office is Friday, April 27 (3.30pm).

Ashton Gate stadium is a 20 minute walk from Temple Mead station.


Travelling by Coach: Supporters that have booked on any of the Gloucester Rugby official coaches departing at 11.00am from the British Energy car park at Barnwood, will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure to allow for boarding time.

The coaches will depart from Ashton Gate at 6.00pm prompt and supporters will need to board the same coach in which they originally travelled down on.  Supporters will be required to keep their coach ticket for the return journey.  Please do not leave any personal items on the coach during the match in case of theft.  Alcoholic drinks are not permitted on board any coach due to British transport regulations.

Directions to British Energy are as follow:

Barnwood offices are located on the eastern side of Gloucester, about two-and-a-half
Miles from the city centre, just off the A417 bypass.

From the North: Leave the M5 at Junction 11, and follow the A40 in the direction of Gloucester. At the first roundabout you approach, take the second turning on the left (A417
Southbound). At the second roundabout, go straight across, and enter Barnett Way,
with the Cheltenham & Gloucester building on your left. The Barnwood coach park is 30 metres past the main British Energy entrance.

From the South: Take Junction 11a off the M5, and follow the A417 in the direction of Gloucester. At the first roundabout, take the second turning on the left, and follow the A417 bypass.
At the second roundabout, take the first left into Barnett Way. The Cheltenham &
Gloucester building is on your left.  The Barnwood coach park is 30 metres past the main British Energy entrance.

THE COACH PARK IS NOT A CAR PARK.  Please arrange a suitable drop off point.
