Background

Since the beginning of the all new Premiership Rugby Academy camps, compared to previous Gloucester Rugby camps the emphasis has changed, although fun is a major part of the activity there are specific learning outcomes from each of our camps, whether it be a tag course or indeed a 5 day residential course.

Throughout the 2005/06 season courses were held in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury and allowed over 300 participants to experience the all new camps. Participants had the opportunity to learn from RFU qualified coaches, Gloucester Academy Coaching staff, Gloucester Rugby players along with specialist sessions including analysis, injury management and prevention, conditioning, and nutrition participants had it all.

This season we believe that the courses will become an even greater success with more camps, more participants more benefits and a greater range than ever before in terms of coaching and equipment.

Our aim is to increase participation in sport and specifically in rugby, we want players to learn from our camps and go away feeling like a new player, a player with an edge over their opposition. This season 2007/08 we will be looking to provide an even greater experience and one that we think you will not want to miss out on!!!

The Options

The Options available for the camps is expansive ranging from a Tag Camp right through to a 5 day residential camp. There are options for teacher training days, refereeing awareness days, multi skills camps and even specific skills camps.

Depending on the level that you play or indeed that you coach, there is something for everyone!!! Further details of our camps are located within this package.

The Benefits

The benefits of these camps are endless; participants will have the opportunity to meet Gloucester Rugby players, Gloucester Rugby Coaching staff and many other people who will be able to offer advice and experience. This will be a lasting memory but also a motivational factor in any players lives. All participants receive t-shirts, photos, drinks bottles, posters and many prizes which can be won throughout the camps.

Every young person taking part in a Premiership Rugby Academy course will get the chance to enter the O2 Kick, Pass and Run Challenge, the country's biggest rugby skills competition.  This involves a series of kicking, passing and running skills tests in three age groups - 9 years and younger, 10 to 13 years and 14 to 18 years.  A winner from each of the three age groups from each camp will go forward into the regional finals to win the chance to compete at the Premiership Final and to be crowned the O2 Kick, Pass and Run Challenge Winner.
